SHortly after this news of the casino not being bannable I for the first time in my WOW history saw casino advertisements... (going on 2 years now) Now this particular person didn't spam to badly... unless you where in the city he was in (in which chase should you be standing next to him you would get the trade ad and then the /say ad) But he was a lvl 1... how can someone trust a lvl 1? chances are he or she created that character to only scam people out of money.I personally think that all advertisements about casinos should be a temp ban offense (just for the possibility of spamming) Or at the very least they should be forced into a separate channel. I personally hate the casino games mainly cause I have yet to see a lvl 80 looking to start up one and only lvl 1's wondering around advertising for it which just reeks of conning.THough it seems they have currently banned casino advertisements. (thank God.) THough I appear to be a bit late on the news :(
They turn up on EU servers from time to time, but get banned fairly swiftly, its still against TOS here.
I have no problem with casinos in the game. I rarely ever feel like playing in one, and when I do it's more for fun than profit. Yes, there can be scammers, but there can be ninjas and gold-farmers too, and those do much more to ruin your experience without being stopped. Comparatively, casinos are harmless enough, as long as you keep in mind, 'caveat emptor' - buyer beware.Spamming ads, on the other hands, is gonna get old real fast, but thankfully we have the Report Spam button now which, with judicious use, should keep the legit casinos from making too much ruckus. The scam ones, however, will have to be reported constantly (just like ads for gold-buying sites).Since it looks like casinos are going to come back soon enough regardless of how we feel, I personally think it'll work itself out eventually. Just don't be afraid to use that Report Spam button when necessary!
Hmm, this sounds like something the Tauren should get on right quick! Imagine walking into Thunder Bluff, and you see a place near the Aution House called "Cairne's Gambling Hut" or somthing lucrid and silly. On a side note, I'm someone who doesnt mind wagering some money for fun, but some things you shouldn't depend on for income, such as gambling. But, I would like to place bets on arena matches. :D
If people want to gamble online (for real or fake money) there are plenty of sites they can do it at. Not sure why WoW should be the medium. On the other hand, casino's are part of life, and WoW is many people's alternate (main?) life. So why shouldn't the game that strives to include professions, adventure, fame, games, etc. not also include casinos? That's enough of the fence sitting...I definitely think that advertising should be disallowed in trade channel (or /yells etc). There's enough crap in there as it is. If Blizzard wishes to allow it, then post a 'casino&games' channel where they could advertise all they want. For those interested (and not offended) in a WoW casino, they can join the channel to find the nearest 'parlor'.As for stupid people being taken advantage of... well, at least it's only fake money/gold. Maybe this will be a good lesson for them... with any luck, it may help them avoid the RL scams. Now the real trick for Blizzard is going to be preventing the mob from getting involved. Speaking of which, I'm in need of a few henchmen... if anyone is looking for some work, and doesn't mind getting their hands a little dirty... ;)
casinos in WoW? what? i've never heard of this b4
I have never heard about casinos in wow so I can't say it is a problem on my server. However, the trade channel is already spammed enough by gold sellers and I don't want more spam of any kind.
