Please make sure that it is mentioned at the top of the article in full caps and huge font that this information is extremely biased to what tactics one will use, what build some one prefers to heal with and what difficulty one raids. Those three variables can make this info switch from accurate to completely off.
Another typical discipline fanboye. I hate y'all.
So tired of the unoriginal "holy priest is for beginners" being repeated over and over by discipline fan boys. Holy Priest has more heals than any other healer and quite a few traps (renew spamming, saving cooldowns) as well that don't make it perfectly suited for new players. I guess with the wow community though repeating something often enough makes it true. Tired of the Holy Priest hate.
While discipline priests prove to be theoretically the best, in reality, I haven't seen 1 decent disc priest, EVERY SINGLE disc priest I've seen sucks, even worse than me playing a holy priest with my eyes closed AND with 1 hand...
I don't think saying that Holy Priests are for beginners is an insult. Holy Priest is a very straight forward healer - people take damage and you, as a holy priest, heal them. It is a very reactive healing spec. When people unfamiliar with WoW think of a "healer" in a video game I imagine that most would come up with some variation of a holy priest. I'm sure if they then decided to try WoW and wanted to heal that they would be drawn to that same idea of a healer. It's just your prototypical healer spec. Having a beginner designation does not make it a bad spec and there are very clearly ways that skilled holy priests will rise above a beginner. There is also nothing wrong with being the jack of all trades. As mentioned in the article, Holy Priests have superb throughput. Throughput-heavy healers may have more downtime once raids are on farm but while progressing I've always found the Holy Priest throughout to be absolutely necessary. The article mentions (a couple times) that this is just the author's opinion and that all specs are viable when played by a skilled player. People need to stop searching for ways to be offended.

Didn't disc damage get nerfed considerably? I've noticed holy priests consistently doing more damage than disc priests, literally always outdamaging tanks, and often above the bottom dps. It's seems like holy priest smite packs quite a bit more punch than disc smite does? ofc, that's just for m0's, where healers probably have little healing to do most of the time ... but running m0's on 3 characters it's been consistently noticeable that every holy priest has done pretty good damage while other healers have done a little less, and I'm never worried about my health when it's a holy priest (or pally). I haven't seen a holy priest do less than 1k dps, usually they're around 1.5k, and I've seen them be as high as 3k on bosses. Most other healers seem to always be below 1k. Haven't seen very many monks though so idk about them.
Thinking about it more, really curious as to what druids and monks bring to the table that makes them more viable than holy priests? Druids I definitely notice less healing from than any other healer in dungeons, if there's burst damage I usually want to pop my own self heal to help them out, and they seem to do hardly any damage unless they're in boomkin form (which I'm pretty sure is a 3 minute cd, and it's still less damage than holy priests do). Seems to me like druids are noticeably inferior to holy priests in every way. I don't know about monks, have seen maybe 2 all xpac, but objectively reading what's written I do actually feel for all of the commenters that seem to play holy priests. It does seem like the article bashes on holy priests, despite their throughput and overall value seeming to be higher than at least druids for sure.Guardian spirit seems like it's going to actually be huge on Sun King's Salvation.
Weird how much the article promotes burst damage, when it's never been the problem in first raid of an expansion.Instead, it's always been about efficiency.I don't know if CN will be unique in this, but if feels weird to me.
