Currently leveling my shadow priest....oh no
I wish they'd just scrap Voidform entirely and bring back MoP/WoD Shadow Priest.
So my choice to disregard shadow for shadowlands is justified. I had a feeling they won’t do jack to bring back the good days of WotLK. Well, that’s that then. Or at least make fae blessing a permanent passive and bake into it the old vampiric embrace and vampiric touch effects.
I found Voidform clunky tb... often ignoring it unless it's for a boss fight but I only play my spriest casually so it's interesting to read about the issueswe're still in Alpha and Blizzard seems to be slowly going through the classes so here's hoping they do <something>
Dang, saw this and hoped it was an official statement from blizz, like with Balance druids and Fire mages. Still, good write up, hoping blizz listen to you and everyone else. They seem to be doing well with regards to feedback lately, so I'm optimistic.
I wish the Night Fae one was better
Im so tired of Blizz not giving a crap about the state of shadow. Instead of reworking it they just throw bandaids on an open wound and call it good. One of these times the borrowed powers arent going to save us.
imo shadow priest was at it's finest in legion during ToS tier with extended void form duration due to the bonus set
Can you guys please take a look at monk and do this for wind walker too? I main monk and it’s really hard to get into groups for anything because of how much lower the ww dps is compared to everyone else. And it’s not just me, go check warcraft logs and compare even the top ww monks to any of the other top dps specs and you’ll see a massive difference. Even the monk class lead that ran the peak of serenity site gave up on monk and switched to DH cuz ww dps is so bad in 8.3. I’m afraid this issue is going to follow it into shadowlands if it doesn’t get looked at.
Shadow has so many cool themed abilities in talents that just aren't viable because of Void Form. When you have to choose between extending void forms with passive traits like Lingering Insanity and more active abilities like Shadow Crash or Void Torrent, you're going to run into scaling issues. If the spells are tuned for the first raid tier, then by the second, its likely the passive traits are just going to outscale the abilities since they contribute to longer void forms. Its a similar issue Holy Paladin is about to face. Glimmer makes the spec one dimensional like shadow where all your talent choices revolve around getting more Holy Shocks out. The difference is that Holy can shift a bit for M+ as it cannot rely as heavily on Glimmer whereas shadow's traits and playstyle remain identical in all situations.
MoP or WoD shadow back..COP playstyle was awesome with dot weave and stuff on ST fights..Pls scrap voidform <3
Thanks Shadow Priest Community from Warcraft Priests for making this post. I am always lurking in the discord for insight on what is going to happen to shadow in Shadowlands. Most of the points made here, are the same points I came across while viewing information myself. Its sad to say, it will be a rough time if you do play Shadow, but I rather stop with the borrowed power idea. Its getting a bit old and out dated, although this spec in a way reminds me of Thresh from LoL. Buff one thing and boom the Character/spec is busted, nerf something boom the Character/Spec is dead. From what I have seen, void form brings a lot of problems to the table while dealing with borrowed power. Chorus was fun, but made Rot/Dot play really powerful due to AS, however nerf all three and it was feeling a bit rough. However, give enough stats, corruption and gear and they can do a lot. While borrowed power is a problem Shadow deals with, other specs also suffer from its side-effects. The only difference is that Void Form was built around borrowed power, while not thinking of the future of the spec. "I have not play a lot of other specs to the extent I have shadow so I could also be missing some specs which also suffer from Void Form Syndrome." We will have to wait and see, what is going to happen as Alpha continues and we get into Beta. I am always positive to see changes.
Can they just remove this whole void form nonsense? They are sticking to it very desperately and honestly, it's not needed. Not using void form feels bad, using void form feels clunky and stressful. They should return to the idea of a dot caster whose direct damage abilities interact with their damage over time effects. Currently, the dot - insanity balance doesn't really match, and despite being the most distinct when it comes to caster dps, the Shadow Priest seems to be suffering from the worst case of identity issues, ironically. Sometimes it feels like they took them in such a different direction with this whole insanity system that even they have trouble determining what sort of caster this spec is, or how it fits their vision.
