Honestly, if they would have just added like, three seconds to the end, of that dagger laying in the sand, only for the eye to flare up at its center in that Nzoth orange, and the whole thing to fade away in a whisp of smoke... the cinmeatic would have been fine. The problem with it is not just the lack of effort or blatant copying, but even moreso just that it left us with nothing to speculate on or talk about till Shadowlands. There's such a thing as tying things up TOO neatly. We need some dangling plot threads to build player hype as well as future content with.
Maybe the lack of a proper ending means we might actually get an 8.3.5 just to help flow things over to shadowlanz
Only problem I had with ending cinematic is that it felt a bit cringe, but then again I really can't see any way that the channeling of the forge of origination's power could look without being cringe. Either it's through the beacon of titan energy we've been amassing for the past year or so, or we tactical nuke the !@#$er, which wouldn't make much sense because he's not on Azeroth. I honestly find it a bit weird that people are so upset over a boss' death in a video game where each raid we kill immensely powerful beings through sheer numbers. Yet the weakest old god in the game's lore actually requiring us to use an artifact of titan power, by connecting the Titan forges from across the globe (Basically pure titan energy), in order to defeat it, when we've beaten so many other raid bosses permanently with just sheer force of numbers, and people are upset about this which astounds me. People are making the claim he should have had his own expansion and lived through this, if he lived through this we'd have been taken over and on his side, where was he going to escape to? We killed him in his own territory. Also, this WAS his expansion, he's been behind the scenes of some major ingame events since back in Cataclysm, from the assault on Neptulon, also taking part in the corrupting of Deathwing and as the last old god the Twilight Hammer forces were under him too. Xavius was under his command, the Emerald Nightmare was done by N'zoth through him, the Twilight Dragonflight and their corruption/attack of other Dragonflights was done by him. The corruption of the tidesages which was an entire zone's storyline this expansion was his doing, Nazjatar was Azshara's doing and although she was trying to break free from him, it still fell perfectly into his own plans. Sure he wasn't Lich King style walking up to us and saying hi like in Wrath, (although technically he was whispering to us a lot this expansion) but this was definitely N'zoth's expansion. What I do have a problem with is that we set off with the goal of empowering the titan essence in our necklace to heal the wound that Sargeras caused, yet the sword is still there and isn't fully healed over and they've said no plans for 8.3.5 so unless it's coming in the prepatch, we have no confirmed wrapping up of that yet. I was expecting that to be dealt with before next expansion. Hopefully it does happen with the prepatch at the very latest.
I'm thinking that by the end, Sargeras' Sword wound in Azeroth is much like the Witch King of Angmar's wound to Frodo. It never heals, but it gets to the point of being 'as best it can be'.
8.3 is soooo awesome that the token price fell from 170K gold to 165K. I wonder how many more players WoW will have to hemorrhage for Taliesin to admit Blizzard has done anything wrong ever.
