I liked TF/WF.Thematically adding corruption as a stat is interesting, at best, with some aesthetic appeal.Game play, with corruption, perspective is just another method to 'keep me playing longer' to remove said corruption, let alone the ill-effects of said item. Seems like an unnecessary hindrance, even so perspective to raids whom may scream, get your corrupted items (ie creating shadow pools of fire / dot) out of our raid... having a game mechanic tied to armor, to me, is a stupid decision. I'd rather have something aesthetic to show how corrupted I am.
I actually kind of like this system. It gives you some kind of high risk high reward system if you don't want to farm too much and are willing to deal with the affexes. I mean, it's obviously going to be some system with your neck, lowering your corruption to balance out the amount of corrupted items you're "recommended" to use at all time, much like the legendaries in late legion, but more open minded than telling you "NO, YOU CANT HAVE TWO... unless... you farm this for ages".
that's a bad and dumb system
So with this new system mythic gear itemlvl can only be obtained from mythic raid(like it was before TF existed), am I getting it right?
Shrug, looks interesting to deal with at least. I am a bit worried that it will dramatically impact PuGs in M+ as 90% of the PuGs I run into will probably just equip a ton of corrupted gear and not get why their health takes an absolute beating in our runs :)But isn't this the core of much of the discussion over the years: you want it make it easy for peeps - or do you want to reward skill more and keep things harder? This is an interesting step away from the drive to make the game super easy, no?
Just to clarify if i understand this correctly: Getting a corrupted item now means that you'll bring a significant disadvantage to your raid with void zones and mobs chasing you around during phases you potentially have to stand still and slows when you have to move for generic percentual gains. In addition, I don't see sockets on those lists anywhere. Is this in addition to or instead of the current Titanforging? In addition to means it's yet ANOTHER layer of randomnes.Instead of means they have to completely redo the loot tables because so far i don't see any preplanned sockets on any items. And i know, you can change out of the gear if you can't afford the negative effects due to the way the fight works and whatnot. But: What is the point of bringing in an upgrade-system when you can't wear those upgraded items during the fights where they would be needed the most! This seems less like a well thought out system and more like a "Look guys, we're changing it. stop hating it we're changing it asap." attempt. And we all know how well that has worked out in the last year or so.I'm all for changing Titanforge to something more sensible, but seriously, this isn't the way to go about it. Why is it so hard for Blizz to admit that their loot systems in Cataclysm and MoP were working perfectly? Just return to those. Preplan sockets in gear, reduce the ammount of loot in dungeons and reintroduce valot points to upgrade your gear by +5/+10 ilvl. Whether or not they bring back reforging... I don't care either way. Doing so makes gear more adaptable, not doing so would still result in a solid loot system given that you can adjust your gear to what you need using sockets.
Read this, went to bed, reflected bout this and I can certainly say....its incredibly horrible. Whomever keeps coming up with this kiss/curse crap needs to be fired.Okay so, Week 1 of heroic/normal/mythic...you get your bis piece, say trinket. AWESOME right? then it corrupted forges....well rip now I cant use it. Even the LOWEST level of corruption is VERY bad. Not only that, say the raid wipes because you were wearing a piece that's supposed to be better. Well rip. This is basically Blizz saying: "Hey you just got your BIS piece congrats! Oh whats that? Its covered in s%$t? sorry! LAWL"And the absolute worst part: Its random! I DONT EVEN GET A SAY IF I WANTED OR NOT!What a horrible horrible system.
That's awlays gonna be a problem. Even back in WoD when sims started to appear you simmed items every boss.
Srsly. No likey.
I find Titan forging to be a pain in the arse but this new system is just getting way to complex. Is this gear designrd for raids and the daily corrupted zones only? if so then not much use in everyday stuff.
Outcome will be, little-to-no reason to try to titanforge all of your gear due to the limit imposed by the negative effects, so gearing optimally will be more interesting and you don't need to worry about spending loads of time getting every piece forged up.However;Doing M+'s is going to be less useful now because nothing will be able to go over the next season's equivalent of 430ilvl gear, you could just get 430ilvl+corrupted effect at best. There is still the weekly reward item with higher ilvl, but that just means that getting the same belt 4 weeks in a row is even more soul crushing because you know for an absolute fact you won't get any titanforges from key completion from the end chests. Further, now that ilvl will be harder to get (without insanely good luck), you are less likely to be accepted into a Mythic Raiding guild, they already have largely unrealistic expectations and now it will be substantially harder to meet those expectations if you aren't already in one or aren't among the first to push through content as quickly as possible before guild's raid spots fill up during the period where they will be more lax about ilvl because they themselves need to gear up. That is largely up to the server you're on and what they higher-end guilds are like though, and I certainly could see this part being me over-estimating how bad the ilvl grind changes will be affected.I guess this also goes for PvP stuff? Whatever the cap on PvP ilvl is, that is it, no more Titanforging for those people meaning they will be even more required to do mythic raiding to deal with the mythic raider PvPers they're against. And if the ilvl stuff for PvP was already sorted out to be able to give Mythic Raid ilvl stuff, then this creates a situation where M+ is less desirable than PvP, and PvP is then still less desirable than Mythic Raiding but can at least get you the ilvl to be potentially picked up for a raid spot. But I know almost nothing about how the gear from PvPing works so this might mean nothing for those people. Wouldn't be surprised if the kiss/curse stuff is disabled in PvP other than World PvP.Then there are the buffs themselves, it is rather likely that a few specs are going to get SUBSTANTIALLY more out of the % increase from all sources buffs than others DPS-wise and will likely be required to have those. Those specs (if this is how it goes) are going to be overwhelmingly powerful due to having a mega-stat, which will then get them baseline nerfs (probably), which will THEN make those without the proper curse/kiss buffs be dramatically below everyone else until they get those buffs. So it will be like missing a required Legendary in Legion, kind of. I just look at those buffs and think it would be very easy for a spec that essentially needs only 1 stat to over-perform (Survival being one that if you just have Haste, you will do great). The other end would be if the buffs, mathematically, just don't come out to being good enough increases to risk being $%^&ed by the negative effects. If the dps increase is like 1% but now you have a chance to be screwed by mechanics it doesn't mean much, a dead character can't dps. Until you can do whatever that cleansing stuff is to them. So they'll just become pieces of gear that you hold in your bags until you get enough currency or whatever it takes to cleanse the curse. That is if it works like that, it could just end up being that removing the curse removes both the buff and the negative effect and leaves you with the baseline item so you can use it if it would be an upgrade anyway, just a quality-of-life option. That's my at a glance guesses though, there is plenty of info I don't know for sure so I am just basing this on what I know at the moment and what they've said here. I want it to be awesome of course, but I am pretty dubious.
Good luck to all us warriors. Glad i have rolled Paladin alt for the last patch 8.3. Atleast Paladins can self heal. They should fire the moron who came up with this. This isnt an bonus system its punishing players who kept in this whole expansion. Blizzard dont you want players in your regular game anymore?
Well... The concept seems interesting, but I will reserve judgement until I see it in action out in the field. People do not seem to realize Blizzard is an evil genie when it comes to wishes. People wished for Teldrassil and Undercity to get an upgrade; wish granted. People wished for Titanforging to go away; wish granted.
The SURFACE issue with WF/TF could be solved by simply capping it to 10 itemlevels, which would mean that you can't get a mythic item in a heroic tier of content... etc. etc. - that's all. I also don't understand WHY they resist older ideas, such as WotLK-style currencies and 25-man quality purchasable gear, or MOP/WoD era gear upgrades... probably it's because they cling to the retarded notion that RNG=FUN, which is a prepostrous lie.The REAL issue is that Blizzard, for nearly 3 expansions, has been overtuning raid content. I've raided with a mixed-bag, mostly working-adult players with average skill and since WoD, I've not seen a successful last-boss kill in a group which didn't gear beyond its desired content. By that, I mean that kills only happened when enough players aiming, say, to clear heroic, managed to get items BETTER than heroic quality - from whatever source. And there were and are many, like m+, m+ weekly chests with guaranteed WF, random warforges, upgrades, initial boss ills on higher difficulty... etc. etc. This increase in overall difficulty has also cost us dearly - my guild lost several raiders with a decade of raiding under their belt simply because the extra load, the OBLIGATORY forays into extra, harder content was simply beyond them, or the continuing shift away from preparation to execution and from encounter familiarity to randomness response made the game not fun for them. The latter case is unavoidable to a degree, but the gist is that if they pulled WF/TF now, then we would inevitably see a repeat of the situation from mid-Pandaria, with "Horridon, the Guild Slayer" - which was responsible for one of the most catastrophic losses of playerbase, so big it finally forced Blizzard to start merging realms.Sometimes, I think we may have had something like that already - BoD was the first raid in history of Curve that we raided, and yet only narrowly avoided not getting a tier down. More active of us pugged to gear and got Curved on the side, but guild raid downed Jaina on last day! By comparison, EP felt like it left more room to build up the raid to clear it... we've downed Azzy two weeks ago. But still, we're back to the problem: you HAVE TO build up, outside of that tier, to clear it. At least, if you are a very average player. So they go back to they flawed thinking, start with RNG, and bring this garbage... It will fail. Simply because while top-level players might take calculated risks, the vast majority of playerbase simply don't have the margin to allow them to risk randomly getting rooted in crap, or randomly putting even more load on the healers. All this means, that if corrupted piece isn't ALSO +10 ilvl, which makes it somewhat desireable, then the default choice for rank-and-file player will be to clear it... unless, of course, they put a hefty price on it. Then the corrupted garbage will become enchanting mats, and if the ability of the established teams diminishes enough to affect their performance, then the exodus will start.
as some of my fellow m+ runners stated above, this is probably the end for a big part of people who enjoy pushing high keys, last tier i was about 10 ilvls below dps and healer from my team cause i didnt mythic raid and didnt got titanforges, this tier i joined a guild to get some gear and in the end i cant even see an urchin from ashvane drop for me, not even 430 one, im wasting 9 hours per week i couldve pushed keys for absolutely nothing, getting gear i dont really need cause for some reason blizzard decided to have couple of items with good stats in the raid and im unlucky as hell with good titanforges. i wanted to quit raiding next tier and focus on keys completely since it didnt really matter if i raid or not in those two seasons but i guess i gotta quit the game instead now. rofl
This is a good example of being careful what you ask for.
I think this is just Blizzard trolling players by replacing titanforging with something far worse.
