I feel you here. If they increased the rate, or drop rate of the dubloons this would feel worthwhile.
Too expensive. Too late to the expansion, but at least it's some sort of effort.
Most of you don't realize this isn't gear for gearing 120 alts, but to make Island Expeditions more feasible for levelling, as you can't get any gear on Island Expeditions, in contrast with normal leveling, where you get it from quests and rares. These BoA tokens are supposed to address that problem specifically (though I'd really love more Heirlooms, whether they give bonus EXP or not, I can't stand going having to mog each time I get higher ilvl gear and i'm not going to start going around with mismatched pieces. My vanity wouldn'r allow me to).One thing is right, though: the tokens are too expensive. They won't follow up the leveling up speed.A good dubloon price would be around 5. You won't get gear per run, but it won't drag down either.
I level with islands. Once you hit 120 go do some WQ that give blues. If a Warfront has been won, you can go kill rares for a chance at gear. This seems like a huge waste of dubs. Now, if they were truly listening they'd add all Island rewards to the vendor. My current toon I'm leveling is almost 120 and has 57 dubs. the other 7 I did all made over 100 dubs before patch 8.1The nerf is real to make us play longer.
20 tokens a piece? So basically you can get 2 pieces by the time you're 118...Literally what is the point of this?
I like islands but considering a heroic will give any from 0-4 dubloons I'm iffy on spending that many for a piece of leveling gear. I think a cost of 5-10 would be far more reasonable for something so temporary. That said, I like the idea.
Another reason making me happy i have unsubscribed :)
I'm not complaining about a addition to the game that will have close to no impact on how I enjoy the game. Looking at the benefits of this would probably, indeed as mentioned before, possible slot filling for people that enjoy the game casually or certain alts which could use a item here and there. This was not ment to be a huge help not have a gigantic impact, it's just there for it's possible functionality. Stop complaining..
I think this is just a sink for the dubloons, considering how long the mounts will take and the item level of this stuff, it is a waste, imo.
You would have to be an idiot to spend dubloons on gear you'll replace in a matter of hours. It's just way too easy to get gear that's higher than 282.
I think this is aimed more at peoples alts that hit 110 and stopped or were just there for the mission table. I have many alts that are around 190 item level that this gear would work for so I do not have to do anything other than spend down some dublons. The problem is that at this moment there are much better uses for the currency than gear for alts since you can buy the level 111 gear that is a minimum of 225 ilevel or you can craft it yourself. The fact that they are boa will be nice if you have alts on another faction or server that you do not have access to better gear. Also, when we get deeper into the expansion people will have bought all of the vendor items and have dubloons sitting there gathering dust so at worst case you can spend them down and dissenchant them like the nethershard vendor.
Item lvl should be around 320. Otherwise this items doesn't even worth of doublons.
I had a second thought about this. Blizzard keeps pushing people into the game world to level by nerfing things like dungeon carries and respawn farms yet they are giving more reason for people to level though islands? this just seems odd to me.
Why not the add the mounts to the vendor for 500 or 1000 each? The problem is not leveling through inslands; I'm not sure why that is the targeted issue. The issue is the insane RNG of mounts dropping. There is a problem when you collect every single pet from islands, yet you haven't seen a single mount drop (not my case just an example).
1. Low ilvl, useless if it's not transmog.2. The drop of dubloons need to be increased to be able to buy all things. 100 dubloons for a quest item? Really? 3. Dubloons need to be account-wide.But you won't implement this since you want the players to suffer a long time.I think most people buy cheap crafted 340 gear from AH. Well, atleast I did with my 30+ alts. Even the green/blue drops in Islands are 325. So, it's as always, disappointing, useless and boring "things".Sometimes I wonder if they make these things purposely to make us feel miserable.
If they dont scale up as you level up like Heirlooms (I doubt they do), then they are completely useless. As others pointed out lame ilvl to begin with, you will be simply wasting coins to buy these for alts when you will gain a level or 2 in few hours and they stay at same ilvl.
If I had a gigantic stash of dubloons sitting around, this would be neat if the resulting items scaled every level like heirlooms. But I don't have dubloons stashed, so when I level my alts on islands, I want those dubloons to buy mounts/pets/etc. Completing islands should drop BoP green items for free, just like leveling through quests.
