Correction, you say "Flynn then reports that the Alliance stealth mission was a success" but that's not Flynn, that's Shaw.
Based on the ships we plant bombs on and based on the ships that get blown up in the cut scene, it seems to me that the ships we planted bombs on is not in the city. instead the in game cut scene from the last part of the hordes 8.1 war campaign indicates that those ships went out to Nazmir to face off against the supposed alliance fleet. Those ships probably get blown up in Nazmir while the bombs that get planted on the ships still in Atal'dazar were perhaps more recently planted by SI:7. Could be something else.
So. What exactly is the time frame? I mean ships need maintenance because water and wood hardly ever go together - so you'd want to make sure your vessels aren't rotting on either end of the hull. You'd think someone would have noticed those bombs during maintenance and launched an investigation to see if other vessels were targeted. Unless the time frame was so short that they didn't have the time. At which point, how did this entire campaign happen? I mean it feels like a matter of weeks, yet if scale is relative due to mmo, you'd think it'd be greater. Also, I'm fairly sure some of those vessels were in active on and off use, which means maintenance at port would be almost necessary. This whole bomb situation doesn't make sense to me. Like wise, what were the loa doing? You'd think one of them might have seen the trickery behind the fog.And if this is right after you plant them, then what were those ships that left to protect Nazmir? They didn't have scouts that could see alliance vessels that would have had to of been fairly close to act in timely manner so as to not waste the lives of those in Nazmir. It's all a bit odd.Feels like a lot of stretching, but maybe I'm missing crucial information. This just shows why spacing out your campaign in such an awkward manner doesn't make much sense. That bomb planting should have been part of this wave of quests we just got.
It was a great cinematic. I love Mekkatorque and Jaina is gorgeous. Plus a massive red button, what more could you want?
the end of the alliance is near.
I'm more convinced than ever, especially after other cinematics in this raid (at the time of this post there have been two made public), that the faction war itself will be the villain meant to be vanquished this expansion.Thank goodness.
Tandred is just grunge, that is his style.
Why no spoiler tag on obvious spoiler analysis?
This is a fantastic analysis !
Wait, no cinematic at the end of the raid? she just mass teleport and that's it? that is lazy and lame blizz. the other 2 cinematics were cool, but jaina escaped just like that? as a jaina fan, i am disappointed. And thanks for the article :')
The teaser, and intro of the post, say the following:Jaina Proudmoore, the Daughter of the Sea, and Gelbin Mekkatorque, King of the Gnomes and High Tinker, show they are forces not to be underestimated in the Siege of Dazar'alor opening cinematic. In this article, we'll analyze the cinematic in greater detail, pointing out interesting details, visual throwbacks, and effective audio cues! Spoiler WarningBut not in the title like you did in the other two articles under this one, just curious why not here when its there.
Jaina will pay for this...!
Maybe don't build such massive wooden boats? It's the tiny, puny ships that win wars, not the "I'm compensating for something" pieces of junk that Kul Tirans and Zandalari are building...And guess what... The tiny Alliance boats and pathetic Horde boats are what's winning these wars.
It is funny how Alliance show zealotry that digs their own grave... more moderation is in order dear Jaina. Funnily, Boy King, as we saw him in Pandaria, was quite capable and aware of this. I suppose he's taking a back seat now for a while.Talanji, and Rastakhan, have shown themselves as shrewd leaders, focused on what is best for them and their subjects.Even while fleeing from Alliance capture, Talanji is open to consultation, and doubts her choice of Horde for support. Across Nazmir missions, she surely does acknowledge Horde aid was meaningful, but that doesn't mean she's now "closed" to any negotiation. Particularly now, when her chosen Loa, Rezan, is dead, and she herself seems pledged to another Loa unbeknownst. Shame on you Rastakhan. It has to be noted that so far, despite apparent closeness of ties, Zandalar has yet to officially join the Horde. And most Zandalari, while cautiously appreciative, still don't seem to see Horde as anything more than one more minor power to settle into the docklands ghetto in the lower terraces of the capital, just like Amani and other tribes already there.Alas, with this surprise attack, without prior warning or attempt to negotiate, Alliance zealotry is playing right into Dark Lady's, and Horde's hands - it'd be very difficult to imagine anything STOPPING Talanji from openly joining the Horde after the dust settles... particularly that the major threat to the north, in Nazmir, has been apparently dealt with. Admittedly - the Horde operations on Kul'Tiras seem to be very equivalent, but I don't really thing there was any room for negotiations between Horde and Kul'Tiras. The most Horde achieved was swaying some pirates and raising some dead. Not much to show for the effort.Even with its fleet in disarray, Zandalari empire is still a force to reckon with and an extremely hostile territory to run a campaign in: just think of all the raptor-filled jungle. I can only surmise this behavior is due to the events following the Stormwind extraction, but... seriously, what did Alliance expect for detaining another power's heir to the Throne, and chasing them to the very doorstep of their home? If anything, I'd say "merely" wrecking the chasing force was a very reserved reaction. Many rulers would not stop at that, but instead send a punitive force to punish the Alliance kidnapping and aggression, and here, it would likely have sailed a long time ago, if it wasn't for the entire situation with Zul.Also, zandalari fleet recovery might be actually more swift than anyone imagines. After all, the fleet facilities are massive between the isle of fangs, warport rastari and dazar'alor, and we do know the Zul situation, now under control, did bring some capital ships to other locations on the Zandalari coast.
