Though not happy with the spirit beasts going tenacity (unless their dps is the same as ferocity), I am glad pets will be bringing significant effects again in a larger way. I felt like in Legion they nerfed how useful the pets were due to the lack of raid buffs, and giving a lot more of them a useful raid/party effect is a glad change.
Typical Blizz, makes changes / removes stuff in an expansion and then brings back the SAME stuff after 2 or 3 expansions.Changing for the sake of change just because its "new" expansion is terrible terrible way to show their laziness.
But still no new stable master slots. Also sucks that direhorn's unique and fun ability is getting removed. I used it a lot during the mage tower challenge.
Yeah i hope so too...
How long until hunters need to feed their pets and use ammo again?I thought this sort of thing was why we were getting Vanilla servers, why is the main game going backwards too?
If the various pet abilities associated with specs have been removed except for the ones mentioned in this post, that has concerning implications as well. Remember how squishy pets were at the start of the expansion? I was using mend pet on cd and it was only not a problem because the spec had so much downtime, I had plenty of free globals to do it. If that's what it was like with the various survival passives and abilities tenacity pets had then...this could be a very bad thing if they don't return pets to their previous state of sturdiness. Losing utility like Heart of the Phoenix and the redirection of critical strike damage are problems too. The problems are less if the dps is the same across pets, but I think this is a way overkill solution to only hero/brez pets being used (with maybe spirit beasts for the small heal if both those previous were covered). Bring back a pet talent tree, but one more like our own with a row of three talents across. Make those the brez/hero/small heal abilities. You get to pick one. Bam. Now we have choice and bringing back things like slows/dispels/etc adds some flavor and removes homogenization without being things that are so essential that we can't pick our desired pet skin and spec.
Why not make a tree of talents for the pets, like the players. So that hunters can call on the pets they like and take their talents/

I wish I had this much salt on my roads.....wouldnt have to worry about the snow. Also, I like the fact that wowhead hasnt put the WHAT WE SEE IN ALPHA RIGHT NOW in flashing color changing letters.
I dont see the issue, outside of howpets are dhowhorned into a spec. Pets now are glorified damage boosts, with spirit beasts, ressers and mini hero pets being outliers. I remember swapping between pets because they gave a benefit. Now i use the same pet because why bother since they all share talebt trees and lost their unique abilities . That's not to say its a perfect solution, but pets now are vanilla unless your BM
I'm happy the pets will get their special abilities back. I didn't like it when they were taken away, but I'm not that pleased with the changes and set speccs to them. Some doesn't even make much sense. As an example Dragonhawks will be tenacity? One of the deadliest hunters on Azeroth? And why give some dodge instead of their old fire breath?
Honestly, I wish hunter pets were even more unique. I don't want someone's bear to do the exact same thing as my fox. I also would like better rewards for harder tames, and better rewards for rare tames. Don't make them OP, but just something extra for the effort. And IF we have two pets in the future, I think this is a fantastic change. You could have a tank and a dps pet tag-teaming mobs. Gives BM a little compensation for being so useless compared to MM in terms of dps.
I am Lone Wolf Marksman all the way so doesn't even affect me lol. I do hope they add more pet slots though. Hate having to abandon a pet every time a cool new one comes out!
