I think it's good that this is only for certain players, things like this shouldn't be given out for free to everyone, there should be exclusive things like this.
I still have my Scepter, because I had to go to school in the alotted time to bang my server's gong. Womp womp

Not fair. There are a lot of things in game not available anymore, Vanilla PvP mogs available only for players who played PvP back in those days, mounts/other transmogs from that period which are removed and perhaps obtainable to the 1% of people who can spit out gold cap to buy those from the BMAH, etc. I get that Blizz wants to show some gratitude to players who are in game since the day 1, but those players are few, and we are many. Not fair towards the other players. We are also there, loving the game very much and we also like the black bug mount. ):The title is enough, old mount is enough and unique, would be even more unique and rewarding if the new model was for all players but the old one for Scarab Lords only. They got that title in Vanilla, old mount feels more like Vanilla. Or am I wrong?
I believe one of the main points regarding why transmog should have never been added is that historically the clothes you wear served both to keep you warm but also as a status symbol. So, since transmog is in the game, I think its only fair people with massive accomplishments to have certain non-gameplay impacting items to show off those accomplishments.
It's a shame..My mage has owned a scepter for over 10 years with nothing to bang!
Uhm, okay. Not sure how to feel about that. On one hand I don't understand the decision to include it as a permanent mount instead of limiting it to the holiday event but on the other hand I'm one of the few people who got it, so....Sure, it's nice to get an updated version of it but I already got a unique mount for that almost 12 years ago. Why should I get another one now?Why not add an updated version of the blue version from Archeology too?How about adding high res versions of the original epic mounts for people who got them?
I don't mind them adding exclusive mounts. But if they add something exclusive, they should also add a window of time when you can get that exclusive thing. It makes no sense that they add mounts locked behind a title that is not obtainable since years ago. It's new content gated by old (and impossible to achieve nowadays) content...
Ah well, I suppose something has to remain rare and exclusive.
If only there wasn't a way back in WotLK time to get it from new servers this would be respectible, but now it's just meaningless plus one.(Still meaningless, hence also a waste of resources ^^)
Honest opinion. No I don't think it should have been exclusive. As nice as the new coat of paint is the exclusive part of the Black battle tank is the original outdated art model. THAT is what I believe is special so if you see people running around on the updated model it's just "Oh guy got a free mount meh, sure he has the other one but the new one isn't that special" But if you see the guy running around on the blocky model for the old one you appreciate the fact that he is a Scarab Lord.I don't see it being any special getting a permanent mount for just being a past player that less that 1% of the WoW population has, that is if they are even still playing. TBH Since WOTLK, I've seen one scarab lord. Also Putting in Mounts for a Micro Holiday you can only have for a Micro Holiday. It's a little Meh when the effort being put into the models seemed to be really good to only use it for one week a year. This was probably the least special or cared for thing in my eyes to come out of 7.3.5.
I wonder if it is possible to know how many people in the world have this mount (and how many of them still playing)...
On exclusivity - I think FFXIV has the right idea when it comes to things like this. Yes, the high end raiders and such get first crack at all the neat looks, and mounts, and titles. But down the road, when the next wave of raids (and associated high end rewards) comes out, that content becomes available to more people as time goes on. In this way, you preserve the prestige of the gear/mount/title, while not outright excluding people who aren't quite as dedicated to the game.
I mean sure, it doesn't piss me off or anything like that, but really: Why is this implemented? Like many have mentioned before, the number of scarab lords still playing isn't that high and if I were one, I would rather ride on the old one instead of the new one. The new model, regardless of color, isn't that cool in my opinion. That's just my opinion of course so sure, if they are gonna have a mini-event, why not add something a little cool to it in regards to the red and blue versions that some might appreciate? Great Idea! However, as far as I know, these aren't flying mounts, thus limiting their functionality in the open world. And like I said before, not many Scarab Lords are still playing. Sure, with the title not being limited to one per server, the number of existing and playing Scarab Lords is higher than I first realized before posting this, but it's still very small. So sorry for being a grump or whatever, but why make something that only a minuscule percentage of players can use if they have done something 10 years ago when they already possess one of the coolest mounts in the game BECAUSE of their literal achievement of skill? It doesn't really make sense. It's pretty much a new shiny medal that tells other players "I was among the greatest raiders back in Vanilla". Okay, sure. You have my respect for what you have achieved during the early days of Wow when such a thing was harder to coordinate and dedicate to. But yet again, what about the old mount and the title? Aren't those rewards much more eye-widening to many considering their rarity and level of recognition to many? Had they made it for everyone that completed the quest when it was available, that would have been better because that would create a bond between old veterans that played in those early days, regardless of their level of raiding skills back then. But as it is distributed right now and as one who wouldn't have it because I never did the quest at all? I think this was a bit unnecessary.
so they decided to give the opnly people with a black Aq mount another one what a load of BS
