Captain Talar Oaktalon is one of the NPCs that can be found in Bel'ameth, the new night elf settlement in Amirdrassil. Will he captain a ship to Gilneas?
Gilneas Connection
Captain Talar Oaktalon is a character from the short story
Genn Greymane: Lord of his Pack
, which is set during the time of the
Cataclysm
. The story follows Genn Greymane, focusing on the events after the fall of Gilneas. With the
return to Gilneas storyline on its way
, it's well worth the read, especially now that we know a direct reference to this story is being placed in-game!
Talar Oaktalen is the captain of the night elf ships that helped evacuate the fleeing citizens of Gilneas, bringing them to Teldrassil. The journey was a tumultuous one, and during a bad storm, Genn and Talar worked together to save Genn's wife and daughter - Mia and Tess - before Genn himself was saved from drowning by Talar. While the two didn't trust each other at first, this experience bonded them, and by the end of the story, they consider each other friends.
In 10.2.5, Talar can be found in Bel'ameth Harbor in Amirdrassil. This harbor seems like it will work the way the harbor worked outside Teldrassil, with ships taking players to different locations. In fact, Talar is speaking with Captain Taldar Windsinger, who ran the ship between Teldrassil and Darkshore. With Gilneas being reclaimed in 10.2.5, this seems like a perfect opportunity for a new ship to Gilneas - one captained by someone who already knows the journey. Who better than Talar Oaktalon? We'd also love to see a reunion between him and Genn.
