Drops from the annoying Basilisk-summoning side boss in ZF. By itself, this sword is kinda "meh", not really any better than the SM or RFD ones it's needed to combine for the epic "sul'thraze the lasher". I hated going off to kill this guy, as he's a bit harder than the other bosses in the instance, but I dragged my guildmates to ZF for 10-15 full runs of the place (not to mention maybe 5 more just to farm basilisk dude for this half, and necromancer guy for the +dmg staff) to get both sides, and end up replacing teh sweet epic sword with an ice barbed spear from AV 2 levels later. doh.

Jang'Thraze the Protector (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=11086#00Rz) in combination with Sang'Thraze the Deflector (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=9379) are combined to create Sul'thraze, The Lasher (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=9372).

This took me about 20 Zul'Farrak runs in total to get. Im level 51 now, and I can promise you it is worth the runs.
If you start running Zul'Farak at around level 45, it will be giving you a ton of experience, a nice set of gear, and of course, the chance at Sul'thraze.

Best for a paladin or warrior. I would not reccommend it to a hunter, since stats are a bit better in my opinion, but if you feel that you could you use the high base damage, go for it!

Suck my ****. Theres no way this have 6,7% drop chance. Ran 34 runs now, no drop. Its Bull****!

If you want this set, go for this one first. It is by far the hardest to get. No sense running 20 times for the Main Hand only to never get the Offhand. Good luck!

this drops off of Antu'sul the boss in the cave that spawns the basilisks. The other one(Jang'thraze the protetor) drops off of the chief. I have the protector and i saw the deflector drop but some1 else im my guild got it. I am postive that this is where these swords drop. The combination of these two swords is Sul'thraze the lasher and does 52 dps with a chance on hit to Strike an enemy with the rage of Sul'thraze. Lowers target's strength by -15 and deals 90 to 210 Shadow damage with an additional 125 damage over 15 seconds and requires lvl 50.

my rogue got this yesterday because the group was me and 2 60 friends who were both casters. its a shame even if i did make sulthraze i couldnt use it, but for now the +parry is good for riposte and a good speed for offhand poisons ;D

has the drop rate for sang`thraze gone down cuz i was told that it has like a 7% drop rate. ive done ZF about 20+ times and i got jang`thraze but out of all the times ive gone in, sang`thraze never drops

yes it does still drop made a quick run with an alt and it dropped of the boss in the cave....

i got this sword first time when farming gold in zf with my warlock friend. after we killed all bosses i sold it to vendor. next run i got other sword, but could't get first 1 back from vendor because vendors reset with entering dungeons. it is not that i wanted to use it since i'm rogue, but epic 1 is worth more than 2 blue ones together. i sopke to GM, but they said that i'd have to use item retun that you can use only once pre account and pay the price that vendor gave me for the sword. i'm not stupid to use this return since i cant even use this sword and it could happen to me that i needed it once. that is all i have to tell. AND REMEMBER! VENDORS RESET WITH ENTERING DUNGEONS OR CHANGING CONTINENTS! DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!

i am not different then the rest of you and i also want to $%^&* about the drop rate. ive done ZF for the 30th time today and so far it has dropped 4 times. and im not like most of you if somone needed it more i let them have it but once a 46 priest ninjaed it. and the other time a 43 rogue thought it was an awsome 1hander...
i started doing ZF at 44 and ive done nothing but ZF all the way to 49 and i still didnt get it. and the times where the group splits apart right before him ,or he kills us, i feel thats when my Sang'thraze dropped.

and to all the people who got both in 5 or less tries i hate you so much!

Guess what, you don't have to equip both weapons to turn them into Sul'thraze. All you have to do is right click either one and turn it into a 2H epic. Im a paladin, paladins cannot duel-wield, therfore there is no way you are required to equip both weapons at the same time.

I went into ZF with my 45 rogue, and this dropped :)

I was DW daggers and hadn't used swords since mid 20s. There was a hunter and 2 warriors in my group, so I figured theyd need on it and fight ouver it. But, lucky for me, none of them needed it. My friend who had a 70 rogue said that this sword was a great offhand for any spec. I asked if anyone wanted it, got "no" across the board, asked if I could need, got "yes" from everyone so I needed and now I'm getting my 1h skill back up. My DPS is through the roof, I was doing almost as much DPS as a 50 arms warrior, and my sword skill was still 75 pts from full. I posted the elaborate story so no one would be yelling "OMG, when a rogue needs this sword hes being a ninja"

Anyway, Im gonna run ZF and see if protector drops. If im lucky enough to be in a similar group, I may replace protector with this. Not gonna go out of my way though.

This looks so sweet! I went to Zul'farrak today for the first time and someone in my group told me that if you combine these two swords you get an epic sword. I thought it was gonna be easy and boy was i wrong. What i really want to know is, would this be a great weapon even at lvl 60? Cause i am willing to do the 50 runs that it will take.

I just ran ZF and both halves dropped in the same run for one lucky guy on Ursin/Horde. We skipped Antusul and killed the other guy first and that half dropped so we decided to get antusul andt his half dropped. He's very lucky i take it.

My poor brother has had the other sword (the protector) and has been trying to get this one.

Then, tonight, it finally dropped. Everyone in the the group knew he, a warrior, already had the first sword. But the rogue insisted that it was a really really good sword for him, too, and so he rolled need on it. The rogue won it.

The rogue was already dual-wielding two of Wirt's Third Leg. By equipping this sword, he would only gain 2.5 dps but lose 9 agility and 4 stamina, all to get a little bit more parry? And rogues can't even use 2h swords, so there's no way he would be going for the epic. This guy just being a greedy jerk, right?

Oh, and before they even cleared the stairs, the rogue quit the group.

im assuming you realize that statistically... you'd have to run ZF 200 times SUCCESSFULLY just to see both drop, let alone win them. Although most people would be nice enough to pass so that somebody with the first can get the second.

Friend of mine would form groups by letting everyone know that if either of them dropped he got them. that way he didnt have to go nutz losing it if and when it ever dropped. So doing that it took him 40 ZF runs to get both halves. Not such a bad way to go about things huh

Lost it in a 3 way need. Was pretty sure I made myself clear about the drop. Hope the guy has as long a wait as I do, I'll prolly be able to craft something better by the time I see that again. Go with higher levels who already have it, or better, cause some clown that's 7 levels under you and 4 away from even using the epic is gonna call a need as well. Or give loot rights to leader and make the seeker the leader..

I got Sang yesterday from the first boss in ZF. It took about 5 runs to get it.
I still haven't seen Jang drop of the cheif yet. I'm getting anxious.

The drop chance is a bit higher now got The other one yesterday.
And now it takes 33 runs to get them both. Cuz they can drop both in a run.
So u need 33 runs for this and 33 for the other, u dont need to count them up.
So an average of 33 runs.

Not that i'm keen on doing it or anything (i think its pretty crappy Axe of Rin'ji is my poison) but can you have both swords and not form the epic one?

I went to ZF on my 48 warrior on 12/14/06 and this sword dropped. I was the only one who could use it so i got it. Then we get to the next boss (after the pyrmaid) and the other one dropped and won on that one. Got both swords in the same run.

Just as a side note to all those people who think it takes 100000 runs to get it... I got sang'thraze and jang'thraze in under 12 runs. Jang dropped on my 1st zf run with guild, so they let me take it, and sang dropped 11 runs later. Combined to make sul'thraze, which is an outstanding weapon. I was a fury warrior till 57, so I used sul'thraze as my 2h fury, which worked amazingly. Faster than my 1h's, and averaged 200~ damage.
I no longer use the sword very often, but it does help in pvp. The proc status is awesome.
I reccomend trying to get this sword, running ZF so many times helps to level aswell.

Just got this item the other day on Deathwing server. Was second time doing ZF on my new Warrior and this dropped... thank god for guild runs as everyone passed it for me. At the time we did not know the drop rate was so low and about the 2handed epic sword created from the two pieces. I've been given a lot of support and hope to have both halves by lvl 50... I'm only lvl 45 now so I should have plenty of time.

Got it last night after about 4-5 runs. Not sure if I should continue using until the other drops or go with this for the faster rage generation.

Got Jang after around 20 runs and i've just been running for ant'sul with a group of mine. We've honestly done him around 100+ times now and this bloody thing just isn't dropping.

Ran a guildie through this, took 5 runs total. 1st run the piece off the chief dropped, then we just ran straight to the cave on subsequent runs. We let the 50 paly run right to the cave, die, then me and a 70 hunter followed him in to res and fight the boss. We didn't aggro anything, so we could kill the guy in 5 min, and run back out. Took 4 tries of just running that boss to get the other drop.
