[Guide] 3.2 Prot - Pre Naxx - The Unhittable Heroic Paladin

Oh, hello.
It's your neighborhood angry Paladin here with a guide for 3.2 pre-Naxx gearing to become unhittable by raid bosses. Unhittable means that the only time you take damage is through damage spillover from blocks. Magic still hurts, but lucky for us its not nearly as common! :D
This guide assumes you have the following:
No professions.
ONLY Blessing of Sanctuary on you (10% health in 3.2, does not stack with Kings)
No other buffs from anything else except your own class abilities.
Enchant procs are not included in the calculations and are a bonus.
You are smart enough to Gem/Enchant how you wish knowing that you will be grouping with, say, another Paladin that can give you Kings, thereby allowing you to replace an Agility enchant with something more fitting.
->
This is the basic spec
<- that goes along with this guide. It will make things easier on you, and your group. Do not worry about your TPS - You have enough (3.5K single target
minimum
). Do not worry about your DPS. You, good sir or madam, need only stay alive and let the Emblems wash over you like a icey river on a hot day.

With this gear+spec+glyphs the following on a Raid Boss.
Remember, this is
without
Kings, nor other part buffs, nor elixirs nor flasks.
Unhittable
540 Defense
98.9% Melee Hit
16.4% Crit
16 Expertise (-4% to mob dodge/parry)
1k+ Block (1.3k with Libram)
60% Melee Mitigation
50% Pure Avoidance
26.5k Life (this goes to 28.5k in 3.2 with Sanctuary only up)
Disclaimer:
This list assumes you are alone in the world, and is simply a base to work off from. It is upto you to tweak things here and there as you see fit in your personal instance exploits. I take nop responsibility for you having 104% unhitability in a 5man when you could of traded 1.6% for more stamina or strength and your cat explodes because of it.
- Still in beta stage taking in feedback. I'll update this when the new 5man drops are verified as well as any BoE/Quest/Etc items that are attainable without spending 1k+ on each item.

Just a quick question for now will be back for more later.
Is this with HS?
I know you said only BoSanc and class abilities but had to ask.
Post by
Quest
Yes with HS.
Also, diminishing returns may or may not be calculated correctly. I'll have to look into it.

You wouldn't want a Titansteel Shield Wall instead? Or is crafted not allowed?
Edit: Sorry, saw the titanium earthguard ring. In that case, I would have picked up the Shield Wall, and that would free up gemspace for more avoidance, rather than the block rating you get on the current shield?

I know it says 3.2 in your title, but you should fix this typo, and at least for now mention somewhere in there that many of the items in your guide are currently impossible to get pre-raid.

I like it for the point of it being pre-naxx available.
As a casual player i can get this by doing 1-2 heroics each day and then i can basically solo all of vanilla and alot of tBC content all by myself.
It's an interesting read and well worthwile.

Is this even worth attaining? Pre-Naxx, nothing hits at all. Inside Naxx, nothing hits at all. In full Naxx-25 gear, Ulduar isn't too far off. At which point stacking avoidance is king.
Interesting list though :P.
Not everyone runs raids. (though they could wipe the floor with 10man with this gear and be 25man ready)
The list is attainable in less than a month. Worth attaining? I dont know.. Is the game worth playing? Is 10man worth raiding for weeks to get the drops you want when they are only a minor upgrade of this list? Thats upto the individual.

Thanks for the complimentary list.

Read my disclaimer!
The shield I choose is due to you already being in the instance for another piece of gear. Efficient is youre casual and dont wanna run more than a a few a day.

I don't know that you'll be able to solo all through Vanilla. I recently ran Molten Core with a few low level guildies, and we wiped once on trash who silenced and so I couldn't get Holy Shield up, which is the same drawback that this gearset would have. (That, and my guildmates are awful and don't know party/raid firing orders. Lack of decent AoE threat without Consecrate meant that they were getting themselves killed.)
I still do like the idea though. Though I do still disapprove of the term 'unhittable' ;p

Ahh, that's what you meant by 'alone in the world'. You might be a Blacksmith too, you're already assuming being a jewelcrafter?
Edit 2: Jewelcrafter, for the Titanium Earthguard Ring, just to be specific. Only just saw your 'no professions' at the start - that looks suspiciously new ;p

The ring is BoE. I'm assuming no professions.
Alone in the world means you have nothing but self buffs from talents.
Everything else is icing.

The Shield Wall is BoE too ;p

It's been in there from the start.
The Shield Wall is BoE too ;p
Nor do you need to be a JC to make it either. I dont see your point.

Ok then, I'm just blind.

Isn't that why you were saying that the Shield Wall shouldn't be in the list? Your disclaimer says that you're alone in the world, and you can tweak this for your individual circumstances depending on what you're doing. But why wouldn't you prescribe the Shield Wall in the first place, which should be an overall improvement by increasing avoidance, at the expense of hit mitigation?
I know that you can pick up a nice shield from an instance you're running already, but I'm sure there are nice rings around too.

There is a much bigger gap between the Titansteel Ring in terms of either stats, or what it takes to get it, than the shields. Also, as I said, if you want to tweak things, and run a separate instance or spend 1k on another shield for a slight upgrade in avoidance, then thats fine. As it stands, the list provides.

Wow, 1k for TSW? They're around 200g on my server.

Even now with the price of titanium going sky high due to 3.2 coming soon?
Post by

They're still not that expensive. Maybe not 200g, the titansteel on my server would cost about 300-400g already, but our price is around 600g, about the same cost as the ring, actually.
Still, Quest's guide, if he thinks it's not worth it, then fair enough. It's a pretty impressive set as it is though. You could almost head straight into the Tournament's 5-mans with that sort of gear, I'd imagine.

You kinda should, becasue you did say its an HEROIC paladin guide, but did not leave any space for buffs.

So...you recommend a valor and conquest gear for someone just entering naxx? How would this person get such emblems and not already have gear thats fit for ulduar?
